Wanda S. Wunderlich

Wanda Wunderlich, of Fredericksburg, passed away on Wednesday, May 9, at the age of 90. Mrs. Wunderlich is survived by her nephews and nieces: Arthur and Donna Wunderlich, Larry and Kim Wunderlich, Randall and Liz Wunderlich, Dennis and Barbara Wunderlich, Kevin Wunderlich, Larry and Florine Lam, Cindy and Gerald Usener, Gary Kramer, Patsy Kott, Peggy and Allen Jenkins, Hardin and Rosie Wunderlich, Roger Wunderlich and Debbie Duecker, David Wunderlich and Terry Cotton and numerous great-nephews and nieces. Funeral services for Wanda Wunderlich will be held on Saturday, May 12, at 10:00 a. m. at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church. Interment will follow in Der Stadt Friedhof. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday evening and from 7 a.m. till 8:30 a.m. Saturday morning at Beckmann Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. till 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church.

Wanda was born on February 20, 1922 at Harper to William Fuhrmann and Bertha Filter Fuhrmann. At the age of 8 she moved to the Pilot Knob Community where lived for the next 82 years. On April 29, 1947 Wanda married Henry C. Wunderlich in Bethany Luthran Church. They farmed and ranched together until his death in May of 2004.

Wanda was a great steward of the land and a good shepherd to her livestock and to her family. She was a strong-willed, hard-working woman. Who proudly wore the title of “range boss” after Henry passed away. Wanda was a member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church. In earlier years she was a home demonstration agent and in 2009 received the “Pioneer in Agriculture” award from the Gillespie County Soil and Water Conservation District.

Memorials in her honor may be made to Fredericksburg or Harper 4H, the Needs Council or to Holy Ghost Lutheran Church.
