Oliver Kendall Jr.

Oliver was born in Hot Springs, South Dakota on May 23, 1942 to Oliver E. Kendall Sr. and Francis Trow Kendall. He graduated from high school in Sheridan Montana in May of 1960 and joined the Air Force in November of 1960. He served 30 years in the Air Force retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant. Oliver married Beverly Sultemeier on October 27, 1979 in Edison Street Methodist Church in Fredericksburg. While in the Air Force he was stationed in Libya, the Philippines, Alaska, Vietnam, Thailand, Germany, England and through out the United States. Decorations include the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal with 3 oak leaf clusters, the Air Force Commendation Medal with 3 oak leaf clusters, the Air Force Achievement Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with 4 combat campaign stars. After retiring, Oliver and Beverly moved to Fredericksburg where they were members of Fredericksburg United Methodist Church. Funeral services for Oliver Kendall will be held on Wednesday, May 30, at 4:00 p.m. at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Danielle Knapp officiating. Interment with full air force honors will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. at Beckmann Funeral Home. Memorials in honor of Mr. Kendall may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice, The Cancer and Therapy Research Center in San Antonio or to the charity of one’s choice. Serving as pallbearers are Simon Luna, Robert Blackburn, Ed Spate, Gene Sloat, Rick Woodward and Larry Taylor.
