Why  A Funeral Service

A Funeral is more for the living. It gives family and friends a chance to say "goodbye". It gives the community a chance to express their care and friendship for the deceased and his/her family. It helps to give everyone closure.

Personalization

At Beckmann, we don't believe in "cookie cutter" funerals. Every funeral should be a unique experience, reflecting a person's life. We encourage families to bring photos and memorabilia to help remember the many good points in a person's life.

There are many types of services.

Traditional

It has been the custom of most of the families we serve to have a viewing of the body followed by a service, either in our chapel or in church. This is then followed with interment at one of the cemeteries with a graveside or "committal" service.

Graveside

Some families elect to have only a graveside service. This may be done after a visitation/viewing at the funeral home. This is most often done when a person in taken to another city or town for burial.

Ship Out

Fredericksburg is a unique community, drawing persons from all over the United States. When someone dies in Fredericksburg, but desires to be buried elsewhere, we can assist with all the details, from overland transportation to air transport.

Cremation

Many persons assume that with cremation they have fewer choices, when in fact, they have more choices. Cremation may take place after visitation/viewing. We can provide for a traditional service with cremation following, on a direct cremation, with a memorial service if you prefer. One does not have to purchase a casket, however most cremations require a container for the body to be placed in. We have a rental casket and a wide variety of urns available.

Memorial Service

This is a service when the deceased is not present. It may take place at the funeral home, a church, or elsewhere. A memorial service may be in addition to a traditional service or after a burial or cremation.

Donation

If one has made arrangements to donate their body to science, we will be of assistance: from removal of the body and contacting the proper facility to arranging a memorial service.

Before selecting a funeral service, consider the needs of family members and the many options available. It may help family members to have a viewing type of funeral service, to begin the healing process. The body present serves as a focal point for mourners and helps them acknowledge the reality of death. If there are any questions that need to be addressed, please feel free to contact us.
